Q's and A's

Q: Is it legal for you to sell grass-fed beef on your farm?

A: Yes. Texas law requires certain licensing requirements be met and that the meat is stored in a state approved area. The process is really pretty simple. We have the meat processed in a state licensed facility, then pick up the packaged, frozen meat. We put our label on each package and then put it in our freezer that is in a state-approved location.

Q: Is it legal for farms to sell raw milk?

A: It is legal in Texas to sell raw milk if you have a raw milk permit. There are currently at least 13 dairies in Texas that sell under a raw milk permit. We are currently NOT certified to sell raw milk, but are working toward that end .

Q: Can farms deliver raw milk to my home or business?

A: No. Raw milk in Texas can only be purchased from the farm it is produced on.

Washington State now allows raw milk to be delivered and sold in stores. Maybe someday things will change in Texas. For now, we are thankful that Texas has a provision for raw milk to be legally produced and sold. Some states do not.

If you would like to learn more about what your state allows, or where to find clean food in your area, go to, www.realmilk.com. You can search by state for farms in your area that offer services that you need.
